The Education Opportunity Network released a video last week detailing the many problematic aspects of the so-called "Parent Trigger" law in California. Last year, a similar bill in the Florida Legislature was defeated. This year, legislators have brought this flawed legislation back, and Marions United along with parent groups from around the state are again standing in opposition.
We need more collaboration and less cutthroat confrontation in our public schools. It's critical we work to ensure more parental involvement in our schools, but simply handing over public, taxpayer-funded schools to private, for-profit charter management companies is not the answer.
