What’s actually going on in Marion County’s public schools as the result of an increasingly shrinking budget, and how is this affecting our community? What can we do about it?
To help answer the two biggest questions facing our schools today, we’re kicking off our first annual State Of Our Schools Tour. We want to invite you to be a part of it.
We’re setting up several “stops” throughout Marion County and meeting with people like you in the communities where they live. Joining us on our tour will be Marion County Public Schools’ Director of Business Services, Theresa Boston-Ellis, who is perhaps the foremost expert on our school system’s budget and the challenges we face. After Ms. Boston-Ellis’ presentation, the audience will be invited to ask any questions they have. This is an opportunity for you to get any nagging questions you have about the school district’s budget answered.
We believe that for too long, our schools and the communities that surround them have been too distant from each other. Marion County can’t move forward as a community until we better understand how our schools work, what challenges we face, and have a genuine and honest debate over how to address these challenges.
Public education is everyone’s responsibility, and your voice is needed. Come join us at one of our community meetings and learn more about the status of the Marion County Pubilc Schools budget and how it affects our children, our schools, and our community.
See you there!
